Our Scottish FA C Licence Coaching Course kicks off on 28 March 2019 and we’ll be featuring the graduates from our program leading up to the start of the course. This week we caught up with @benmack13 from @lcfc (Leicester City). Ben graduated from our C Licence in Southern Africa in 2015 and continued on to complete his UEFA B Licence with us in 2018.
Ben is originally a Stellenbosch Sports Science graduate and now finds himself based at one of the world’s most prestigious football clubs, after successfully completing his coaching levels. We spoke to Ben about what his position in the academy is and what his day to day activities include. Ben had this to stay: “My position is Sports Scientist for the clubs international academy, which are a group of players from Thailand that are brought over for two years to study in boarding school and train in a full time program with all the same bells and whistles as the english academy.
Day to day my role is around trying to make sure that all of the players in the squad are in the best possible physical condition, looking at which individuals need training that is appropriate to their condition, which may be something extra or adapting their training to give them more recovery time. A lot of that is done using GPS data from units that the boys wear in vests every day. In short everything I do is around making our boys faster and fitter, but more importantly keeping them available for training and matches.” We are incredibly proud to see our graduates taking up prominent positions within elite clubs and we look forward to witnessing Ben’s growth as a youth football coach. To follow his progress, you can follow Ben here @benmack13.
Thanks for the catch-up Ben.
